Modo Yoga Los Angeles is holding a 21-day Savasana challenge, September 1 - 21. You might be thinking, Savasana? What kind of challenge is that? The idea is to engage in the practice of peace by dedicating oneself to ten minutes of stillness each day for 21 days. Rather than a physical challenge, this one goes to the heart of yoga - stillness. And, September 21st just happens to be International Day of Peace.
Those outside of the LA area (such as myself) are welcome and encouraged to join. Simply reply to one of the posts about the challenge on the Modo Yoga LA Facebook page to make the commitment.
I also see this as a way to move beyond all the aesthetically driven asana challenges on social media. Rather than throwing oneself into an advanced posture just long enough to snap a picture, this one simply asks you to carve out a bit of time each day. No pictures needed. The time spent will leave an indelible mark on your life and those you encounter as you breathe a bit more peace into each day.
